Name, email, phone and a password. No membership fee, now or ever.
Send your documents
Photo ID, a second piece of ID, your Criminal Record Check and proof of address. Our team checks each one.
Finish your profile
Your photo, your introduction, what you can do, your days and hours, and two references.
Start getting invitations
Once accreditation is approved, your profile goes live and families begin inviting you.
How long verification takes: up to 3 business days after you submit a complete application. Our team phones both of your references and speaks with you before approving anything.
What you need to take part
A high bar on safety — for the families' peace of mind, and for yours.
Important: we do not require nursing or any health qualification. We are looking for people who are warm, attentive, punctual and genuinely good listeners. And remember: companionship does not include nursing procedures, medication, bathing or housekeeping.
The questions every applicant asks
Do I have to pay anything to get accredited?
No. Signing up and getting accredited are both free, and there is no membership fee. The platform earns from the service fee charged to the family, added on top of the cost of the visit.
Do I have to accept the invitations I get?
No. Each invitation shows the activity, the day, the time, the address and what you will be paid — and you accept or decline, one at a time. Declining in good time does not hurt where you rank in search; what counts against you is leaving an invitation unanswered.
Can I set my own hourly rate?
No — and that is deliberate. The rate is set by GenBuddies, the same for every companion in the same situation, so that nobody has to compete by undercutting themselves. The current standard rate is $25 / hour, and it may vary with experience, specialisation and area.
What if something comes up on a day I have booked?
Tell our team as early as you can, on (204) 555-0100 or by message. We speak to the family carefully and look for another companion for the same time. Things come up — what cannot happen is someone left waiting with no idea why.
