Safety and Trust
Letting someone into your home takes trust — and trust is built on clear rules, not on pretty promises. Here is exactly what we do.
“Checked by a person before they are ever listed.”
Not a filter you can untick. It is the condition of being on the platform at all, identical for every companion and every visit.
1. Vetted professionals, chosen by you
Our companions come from every background, and not one of them takes a booking before a person on our team has checked who they are. You then choose the companion yourself, from their profile — on the activity, the hours and the experience you need.
- Nobody is listed until the five checks in block 2 are complete.
- You pick the person, every time — we never assign one to you.
- Decline a companion for any reason and book someone else, at no cost.
2. Five-step verification, every time
No companion takes a booking before our team has been through their paperwork. Five requirements, all mandatory, checked one at a time by a person — not by a script.
- Government photo identification (passport or driver's licence).
- A second piece of ID, checked against the first.
- A Criminal Record Check including a Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Current proof of a Manitoba address.
- Two references, each spoken to by phone.
3. Paid through the platform, never in cash
Money is arranged inside GenBuddies, with the price on screen before you confirm anything. No companion asks for cash, a card or a tap terminal on the day of the visit.
- No cash, no cheque and no card machine at your front door.
- The hourly rate is set by the platform and shown before you confirm.
- The companion is paid after the visit has happened.
- Every booking gets a reference code with the amounts on record.
A companion's rating is the average of the reviews they actually received — not one more.
4. Real reviews, from visits that actually happened
The ratings on our profiles do not come from a form open to the whole internet. Only someone who completed a visit through the platform can leave one, and each visit produces at most one review.
- One review per completed visit — enforced by the database itself.
- A rating from 1 to 5 stars, with a comment written by the family.
- The profile average is recalculated with each new review, unretouched.
- A review cannot be edited or deleted once it has been submitted.
5. A person on the phone, here in Manitoba
You speak to a person, local to you. Our team answers by phone and message to field questions, help with a booking, and sort out whatever comes up before, during and after a visit.
- A Winnipeg line: (204) 555-0100.
- The same team by message — no bot answering ahead of them.
- Families register an emergency contact, called if anything happens.
- Every booking has a reference code — give us the number and we have it all.
You can report without saying who you are. Our team looks into it and, where a crime is involved, contacts the police.
In an emergency, call 911 first. We will deal with everything else with you afterwards.
6. A reporting channel, and zero tolerance
Disrespect, discrimination, improper conduct or simply not turning up get no second chance here. Anyone — a family, a companion, a neighbour — can come to us, with or without giving their name.
- Report by phone, message or email, named or anonymous.
- The account under investigation is suspended while we look into it.
- Whoever reported it is never identified to the other party.
- Where a crime or violence is involved, we contact the police.
Still have a question about our safety?
Our team will talk it through with you and your family, answer whatever you need, and walk you through the first booking together.
